Resha Altai
LICENSED Clinical Social Worker (#126958)
She/Her/Hers
I believe we all have the capacity to heal, change, grow, and ultimately thrive. However, circumstances, trauma, isolation, dis-ease, stress, and life challenges can blur this potential. As a queer mixed Arab woman, I understand that therapy is a radical act. The personal, social, cultural, and political forces that contribute to and constrain your well-being are all integral to our work together.
It is my honor to hold space for healing and self-discovery to unfold at a pace that is right for you. Through an integrative lens that recognizes the intrinsic connection between the mind, body, and soul, I assist you in uncovering and working through patterns, thoughts, relationships, and experiences that no longer serve you. My style is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and a little irreverent at times!
My therapeutic approach weaves together my training and knowledge of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, Relational Gestalt therapy, Parts Work, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and my experience as a yoga teacher. That being said, I believe that the relationship with my clients is the most central and important part of the therapy.
While I enjoy working with a diverse array of clients, folks who identify as women, LGBTQIA+, first-generation and third-culture kids, high-achievers, Neurodivergent, and highly sensitive people (HSP) are especially drawn to my work. I’m also particularly passionate about supporting trauma survivors, and those living with chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and autoimmune disorders.
Originally from the East Coast, I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. Before joining HPHP, I worked in schools and community mental health centers working alongside clients from many diverse backgrounds.
As someone who has sat on the therapy couch myself, I understand the vulnerability and courage it can take to reach out. Schedule a free phone consultation if you'd like to connect and determine if we are the right fit.
